Earth Camp
Fall Programs

MONDAYS:
 HOMESCHOOL DAY!
SEPT. 14, 21, 28 OCT. 5, 12, 19, 26
For Students 6-12 years old, 9AM-3PM
LIMIT 10 STUDENTS

Mondays will be our day to work with children that would like to learn and grow in the following ways:

Sustainable living skills

We will focus on alternative energy sources, alternative building structures (including cob/adobe work), permaculture-based farming techniques, aspects of bee keeping, mushroom growing, herbal crafting, and chicken rearing, learning how a CSA
(Community Shared Agriculture) farm operates, organic foods and meal preparations, use of tools and building projects, and primitive skills that relate to living in harmony with the land as our ancestors did.

Personal Expression skills

We will actively express ourselves in the areas of eco-art, poetry, creative movement, making and using a journal, clay and raku firing, making and using our own personal musical instruments, team building and initiatives activities, and learning basic interpersonal relationship techniques that create a sense of community with nonviolent communication skills.

Fun and Being ONE with the Earth

We will explore our beautiful laguna on nature awareness walks and learn about our relationship to other living beings, and the interconnectedness that we share with them. “Place based learning” about watersheds, geology, forest ecology, animal, bird and insect communities that are abundant in our area, what they give to us, and how they are affected by human culture.
We will also play interactive nature games, and learn basic hiking, camping, map and compass, knots, and survival skills techniques while out in the wild.

There will be a division of ages, roughly 6-8,  9-12 , using the parental guidance of assessing levels of maturity and focus as to which group best fits the child.

The student to teacher ratio is 1:5 maximum, therefore our spaces are limited to 10 students for the fall program. Due to the nature of the extraordinary amount of subjects to be covered, we ask for the full 7 week commitment, to provide continuity and cohesion as a group from which we will, by the end of the fall program, have formed a close and caring community. All materials are included, please pack a lunch and a snack.

Cost for the 7 week program per child: $ 350.00, with a non-refundable deposit of $50.00 by Sept. 4th  to hold the space.  Siblings receive a 10% discount.  Please Call Sherry at (707) 824-1600 to register.

our organic children’s garden. Exploration of what soil is, worm bin and compost, planting, transplanting, harvesting, cooking and preserving foods will be done to show the cycle of plant life in a garden setting.

2)    NATURE AWARENESS:

We will take time to explore our larger wilderness area at the laguna to see the plant and wildlife that call it their home, including an introduction to the communities of birds, insects, amphibians, and mammals. We will encourage sensory awareness, build forts and fairy huts, teach the children how our ancestors lived, and current indigenous cultures continue to live without the aid of modern conveniences.

3)    PERSONAL EXPRESSION:

We will use the tools and languages of the arts, crafts, music, and movement to connect the children to their thoughts and feelings about nature, themselves and the connections that they are making each day while here. They will also get to help with cob building practices, learn the process of working with clay and firing, and herbal crafting techniques. Daily story and snack time will allow the children to develop stories to share with each other and bring home to the family.
